Shane is a sculptor and performer. His work draws inspiration craft practice and dance and is rooted in ideas about ecology and reuse. Projects, often in participatory settings, involve audiences in the making processes in order facilitate personal, social and cultural histories to be exchanged.
Prompted by his interest in movement and dance, he co-founded Common Agency Projects with dance artist Laura Glaser, with who he develops site-responsive outdoor performance work. He is a member of Ambient Jam Collective, a multi-media dance improvisation collective. Both projects allow him to explore means of choreographing making through improvisation, score writing and the use of materials and objects.
Shane has exhibited work internationally. He is an associate lecturer at the University of the Arts London (UAL), a resident artist at Stave Hill Ecological Park in Rotherhithe and co-author of Practical Basketry Techniques published by A&C Black.
